Kengo Kuma (1954) is a Japanese architect, a University Professor, and a Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo. Kengo Kuma is a globally acclaimed Japanese Architect who has offices in both Tokyo and Paris. He is one of the most significant Japanese figures in contemporary architecture. Some of his most recognized works include the Asakusa Culture and Tourism Centre in Tokyo and the Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum. He is also one of the designers of the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo which will become one of the main venues of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Kuma has ample experience using a variety of key materials such as wood, bamboo, plasterboard, paper, glass, and bricks, as well as working with all the different geographical elements from water to air and light. From his many years of research and experience, he knows how to create architectural masterpieces that coexist perfectly with the natural environments.
