Born to realtors in Austin, Texas, Ford spent his childhood in Texas and New Mexico, before moving to New York to attend New York University, majoring in art history and after that architecture. With a long time love for fashion, worked at the Chloé press office in Paris for a year and after that was hired by Cathy Hardwick, an American sportswear designer. Moved to Europe to improve his designs skills and glad he did it... he became creative director at Gucci in 1994 where he did an amazing job bringing the brand back to its former glory. 10 years after his landing at Gucci, Tom Ford moved to Los Angeles and in 2005 started his own Label with cosmetics and menswear. In that same year Tom Ford signed his partnership with Marcolin Group to produce and distribute optical frames and sunglasses. In 2006 produced and directed " A Single Man" which was nominated with an Oscar and a Golden Globe. Having also deployed his brand to the world of womenswear where he left a deep trademark. The sunglasses and glasses merge together both vintage and contemporary influences. All the styles are rendered instantly recognizable by the elegant metal “T” detail, the undisputed icon of the brand. Among the most iconic and desired styles we can count the Whitney, the Jennifer, the Cary, the Leo and the sunglasses worn by James Bond in the 007 Saga Movies (Marko, Snowdon and Henry). Tom Ford eyewear collection focuses on shapes inspired by the 1950s and 1970s, highlighting bold and clean-cut volumes with styles characterized by fine combinations of acetate and metal, making the eyewear unique and instantly recognizable. The mood is based in two specific concepts: Refined minimalism; concentrating on essential designs, timeless shapes and premium materials and Precious combinations; featuring unique mixes of acetate and metal, technological innovation and unexpected design solutions.
